Cytospin 2 from Shandon is a cyto centrifuge for smear preparation.

The Shandon Cytospin 2 is held to be the first device that employed centrifugal force to isolate and deposit a single layer of cells on slides, at the same time keeping intact the cellular integrity. To deliver optimum results quickly and efficiently, the centrifuge incorporates a unique sample chamber assembly, which consists of a microscope slide, a plastic sample chamber, a filter card to act as a blotter, and a patented stainless steel slide clip.

Shandon Cytospin 2, which finds place in many application areas such as cytology, histology, and hematology, comes equipped with many advanced and safety features.

This device has operation speeds ranging from 200 to 2000 rpm, the time duration varying from 1 to 99 minutes. It has the capability to process up to 12 specimens at a time.
